Complete rant
So I had a minor argument with my dad the other day (my brother was there too) about politics, which is never a good choice on my part. I think it’s all a bunch of bullshit. My brother made the comment that Romney was better because he had the “(R)” next to his name and I was a bit upset that he actually made such an ignorant statement. I don’t care if you’re democrat or republican, it’s what you DO and what you SAY.
Aside from that, I think that all the hate towards Obama is misguided because American needs somewhere to point the finger. The fact of the matter is: America’s economy is shitty. Four years seems like a long time to the American people, but in all reality we have to completely rebuild. Obama, or any president for that matter, and their staff have a ridiculous task ahead of them. The idea that because he didn’t wrapped the economy up in a neat little package with a cute little bow by the end of his term is honestly pretty ridiculous. If Bush got two terms, and was able to aid in completely driving us into the ground and everyone knows it, then why can’t Obama? Here, check this out before you go all ‘bamahatin’ [Click!]
And then came the gay marriage debate with my father, awkward. He is stuck on the idea that marriage is between a man and a woman. I don’t know how many times I can say this: Marriage is a LEGAL binding. People who use the bible to argue have the right to take their marriage to a church, and be as ‘traditional’ as they would like about it. But if someone isn’t religious, a justice of the peace can marry you in a court room or a park or in your backyard. Jesus doesn’t dictate who can and cannot marry; neither should anyone using him, his book, or his ‘tradition’ as justification. The moment that religious individuals try to make their religious beliefs law is the moment they are taking away every individual’s right to believe. The separation of church and state is a necessary thing, because when all people are not following one religion, but we are all following law and government. If homosexual couples want to marry, let them. They deserve the rights that come along with being married just the same as heterosexual couples do. To those thinking about voting yes; you are not god, don’t try to act like you are. We are all people, no better or worse than the next. A man and a woman were placed together in order to reproduce, to populate the world, that is the purpose of a male and female couple. With 6.9 billion people in the world, as of 2011, I think we have successfully populated the planet. If your state has a marriage amendment; vote no.
So here comes Romney, banning gay marriage, making me out to be some sort of a harlot because I use birth control, degrading Obamacare and then basically instilling the same plan. OH, and he intends to ban federal funding to organizations like Planned Parenthood because he is Pro-Life. Aside from the fact that Planned Parenthood does a ton of other things for could-be mothers that they would not otherwise be able to do/afford, this is a sad excuse to ban abortion. I get that you don’t like abortion, but it’s not your body, Mitt. What about the 11 year old girls who get raped? “adoption!” No. Physically or mentally, that’s not something an 11 year old is prepared for or should have to go through. And when the funds aren’t available, and a mother is unable to care for a child even in the womb, people will take things into their own hands – which is why we have resources. People are going to get hurt, but at least Romney will be able to sleep peacefully knowing he has fulfilled his “duty to uphold the sanctity of life”. (Source)
Fuck religion. Fuck politics. I want my freedom.
hopefully this doesn’t offend.
